In between working at the BBC and moving towards working with young people with disabilities with Post19, I raised my family and needed flexible working hours to fit in around them. I ran my own small design business from home as a sole trader working under the name WALLOP. I established a great working relationship with many of my clients and remain friends with many of them to this day. They made these freelance years a fulfilling and ecclectic period of my design career which I look back on very fondly.
Branding and Logo development for The Classroom Creatives Network.
A fun, character based identity was the brief for a brand that could be used as a Social Media avatar, as a mark for printed materials and could work as an animation at the beginning of video stings.
Corporate Identity and business Stationary project for Crane Rescue Business. Bespoke Illustration for business cards, letterheads and company literature.
A stong, simple design was requested that would illustrate immediately the situations the service was targetting without being overtly frightening. This simple, block colour line art approach was selected to represent strength and clarity.
I created a series of book covers for paperback anthologies of stories published by Chapter One Publications under the sub brand, Seamans Roost
Each anthology contained short stories by approximately 20 authors and the cover design was based upon the theme of each title.
Jack's radio mission was a children's picture book created for The Royal Marsden Hospital, with all profit going to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Research Foundation. The mixed media picture book was a simple story from the perspective of a young patient going through radiation treatment for Blood cancer and was intended to be a calming tool that could be used in the waiting room at the hospital to help patients understand and cope with the treatments ahead of them.
The author was the very talented Sarah Boland, who told the story based on her own experiences and worked closely with the staff at the hospital.
Brand identity and logo design created for Thorness - an online store specialising in hats.
I created a series of three children's picture books for Author Mary Knight, published through Lulu publishing. The project included all internal mixed media illustrations, page layout, cover designs, promotional materials creation and was even type set in a font which I created from the author's own handwriting.

I had an ongoing relationship with Alton College, creating all their bespoke promotional and information print based material, including trifold and bifold leaflets, brochures, & large format posters as well as screen based communication graphics using email templates and subscriptions services such as mailchimp.
I created a series of A5 double sided flyers for The New Ashgate Gallery promoting short run artist installations and exhibitions.
